Winter Engagement Session in Midlothian | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Genna and Taylor’s engagement session at the Celebrations at the Reservoir was absolutely stunning! We got the most amazing break in the Richmond winter weather, that had it feeling like a beautiful spring day. With all of the snow and ice storms, we had been rescheduling their engagement session to avoid the ice. The sun finally came out this week, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day!
I was so excited to finally meet Genna and Taylor in person! I’ve loved getting to video chat with my couples, but nothing beats meeting someone in person. These two are high school sweethearts, and have the sweetest story. They originally met in high school, and had a few mutual friends that got them hanging out together. They ended up going to prom, and having a blast! Genna asked Tylor out on their first date, and the rest is history. They have now been dating for over 10 years!
Back in November, they went down to Raleigh NC for a weekend trip. Taylor planned a beautiful proposal at a local park, but it was packed with people thanks to the warm weather! They ended up leaving, grabbing some lunch, and planned to regroup at their air b&b before going out to explore more. Genna had almost fallen asleep for an afternoon nap, when Taylor said they needed to talk. Being the jokester he is, he grabbed Genna’s hands, looked into her eyes, and said, “I just can’t do this anymore.” Feeling shocked and confused, Genna’s eyes grew wide as Taylor then continued with, “I just can’t be boyfriend and girlfriend anymore,” and proceeded to get down on one knee and propose! It was super intimate and sweet. Now, Genna and Taylor will be getting married on the one year anniversary of their engagement!
Celebrations at the Reservoir is actually where they will be holding their reception! They were kind enough to allow us on the grounds for Genna and Taylor’s engagement session. I usually don’t get to see a venue before the wedding day, so it was really neat to get to have their engagement session there. I got to have a little inside look at what their wedding will look like, and got to see all of the great places for portraits! Having just a quick moment to assess the lighting and find the best spots for portraits on the day of is something I’ve become an expert at. Thanks to this session, I’ll already know the best places for photos on their wedding day! And frankly, there are so many great places! It was so easy to find the perfect lighting for Genna and Taylor’s engagement session, and they did such an amazing job with their portraits! Their big smiles and vibrant laughter were easy to capture, and I’m just so excited for these two to finally be married. Congratulations again you two, and I can’t wait for your wedding in November!
