A Winter Engagement at a Local Farm | Mechanicsville Engagement Photographer
Kathryn and Charlie first matched on a dating app back in 2016, but the stars never quite aligned for them to date. They stayed in and out of touch, until they finally had their first date in November of 2020. Almost 4 years later, they immediately hit it off and have been together since! They love relaxing on their front porch, having endless conversations, and going on walks with their dog, Audi. They also love going on yearly trips to a property in New York, which is special to Charlie’s family. Charlie’s parents actually got married there, and its become a home-away-from-home for them!
Back in July, they embarked on their annual trip to the property. Kathryn had suspicions that Charlie might propose, but the trip started out quite stressful! After a series of unfortunate events, like flat tires and a broken boat, Kathryn figured it just wasn’t the right timing. One day, Kathryn and Charlie spent an afternoon enjoying the summer air on the dock with Audi. Suddenly, Charlie asked if Kathryn wanted to go swimming. She said yes, and Charlie told her to stand up to get in the water. As Kathryn got up, Charlie got down on one knee to propose. Kathryn immediately started crying! Her tears quickly turned to laughter as Charlie said, “I will wear my CPAP machine every night, if you wear this ring forever.” Kathryn let out an excited, “Yes!” and now these two are planning their September wedding together!
If you’ve been following along for a while, you might remember Kathryn from Dudley & Bruce’s Lewis Ginter Wedding. Dudley had reached out about a recently engaged friend of hers, and I was SO excited when I realized it was Kathryn! I immediately fell in love with Kathryn and Charlie’s story, and I’ve been so excited for their engagement session at Windy Knoll Farms. This peaceful farm is my favorite fall location! We had a blast catching up and exploring the property, and staying warm with plenty of laughs. I suggested trying a lift kiss, and Charlie got so excited! Kathryn laughed that Charlie actually wants to do the lift from Dirty Dancing at their wedding. She says they need some classes first, but I say they did SUCH an amazing job with their lift and dip kisses!
Congratulations again you two, and I can’t wait for your wedding in September!
