Romantic Styled Wedding Shoot | Powhatan Wedding Venue
This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend my first ever styled shoot at Lakeside at Welch Estate in Powhatan, Virginia! I’ve been looking forward to this for months, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Styled shoots are a wonderful way for a Richmond wedding photographer to collaborate with other vendors to bring a vision to life. Working with other photographers can give you so many new insights and viewpoints! Meeting other vendors is also a great way to network.
I’m so excited to share all of the hard work these Virginia wedding vendors put in for this beautifully styled shoot. Additionally, this styled shoot is a fantastic example of how you can get amazing wedding photos, even if the weather isn’t cooperating!
We traveled out to Lakeside at Welch Estate and I was immediately stunned by how beautiful the venue was! I definitely recommend this venue for just about any wedding. There are beautiful spots for getting ready, along with countless of opportunities for some great portraits. Although we didn’t use their reception space, they had a gorgeous tented patio with lights criss-crossing the ceilings!
Hoping for a beautiful spring day, we were a little disappointed that the sun decided to give us a bit of rain instead. However, we were well prepared with some transparent umbrellas, so the rain didn’t stop us one bit! As a result, this shoot is such a great example of how you can still have amazing wedding photography on a dark and gloomy day. The umbrellas didn’t take away from the style at all, and it allowed us to stay out longer for portraits! I dare you to try and guess which photos were completely rained out!
I had so much fun getting to meet other photographers, and getting to learn different ways to operate. It was also so great to meet some other wedding vendors from the area! Kelsea Dayberry did an AMAZING job with the hair and make up for our models! I mean check out the gorgeous updo on the lovely bride, and all the dreamy braids. Are you looking for some exquisite invitation suites? Aisha Caldwell put together all of our dreamy invitations and envelopes!
VC Noblin worked her magic on that scrumptious “naked” wedding cake. Diane Hernandez is responsible for all of the beautifully blooming floral arrangements! Did those elegant little ring boxes catch your eye? You can grab one from Marcia May Designs from her shop on Etsy! Ring boxes are an easy way to add some serious style to your wedding photos. They can really help to bring all of your wedding colors together, while adding a little bit of pop! Little Cotton Events is the wonderful planner that helped to make all of this possible.
The models were so sweet, braving the cold and kindly let us direct them in posing and new locations. It can be uncomfortable being in front of a camera, but these guys dealt with 15 at once! And they rocked it! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to attend this styled shoot, and I hope to work with some of these creative vendors again in the future. Here are a few of my favorites from the day!
