A Spring Wedding with Irish Spirit | Richmond Wedding Photographer

Matt and Marlea finally tied the knot at their Spring Virginia Cliffe Inn wedding! We were blessed with the most beautiful spring day you could imagine. The morning was a whirlwind of getting ready, and they just couldn’t wait to finally get to celebrate with all their favorite people! They chose their date of March 19, 2022 because of its proximity to St. Patrick’s Day, and filled the day with many little nods to their Irish heritage. Their simple decor included green and gold accents, Marlea’s Uncle Keith presented a traditional Irish blessing during the ceremony, and there was some traditional dancing during the reception. To top it all off, Matt and Marlea will get to explore Ireland on their honeymoon!

Their dog, Ranger, made a guest appearance for photos with the couple as a newly official family, after hanging out with the guys as they got ready for the day. Their celebration didn’t leave out Matt’s love of hockey and his favorite team, the New York Rangers (where Ranger got his name)! Matt’s suit included a special lining with the team’s logo, and he rocked his Rangers socks alongside his groomsmen and their team’s socks. After a few portraits with their friends, it was time for the ceremony!

The couple’s niece and nephews were amazing at their jobs as ring bearers and the flower girl! To some surprise from the adults, Beaux and Blaine successfully made their way down the aisle with their signs, while Annmarie donned a birthday crown and sash over her flower girl dress to help celebrate her 6th birthday! Finally, Marlea made her way down the aisle with her father, David, and took her place next to Matt to begin their ceremony.

After Marlea’s Uncle Keith presented a traditional Irish blessing, their officiant led them through their vows and a few words stories about the couple. He shared a story about their first date where Marlea and Matt ended up talking for hours and hours, which caused Matt to run late to his own hockey game and accidentally arrive at the wrong one. That fateful day started a beautiful relationship! After exchanging their rings, Marlea and Matt were finally announced Mr. and Mrs. Tovey!

Family and friends enjoyed each other’s company and the comfortable temperatures all evening, playing corn hole, giant jenga, and simply chatting amongst one another outside. The fun music from Signature DJ’s carried out to the venue’s wonderful outdoor space while others danced the night away inside to songs from the Macarena, and Bye Bye Bye, to a Days of the Week song Marlea sings with the students in her classroom. Their night ended with Don’t Stop Believin’ followed by an amazing sparkler exit you just have to see!
