I will admit, Dakota’s answers to my inquiry questionnaire got my attention pretty quickly! I could tell that she and Phil were such a fun couple, and I was so excited to chat with them over Zoom. When I saw Dakota still in her, “Elf Day,” outfit from her job as an elementary school teacher, I knew that I just HAD to photograph their wedding!
Dakota and Phil met through mutual friends at a Halloween party, and have been dating since August of 2017! Dakota is an elementary school teacher, and Phil is a registered nurse, studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. Between their busy schedules, they love getting to explore the outdoors with their rescue pup Nacho, renovating their new home together, and rewatching the Office!
Back in June, Dakota went out to Carter’s Mountain with one of her friends. Little did she know, her friend was totally keeping her busy so Phil could prepare his proposal! Dakota came home to find rose petals all over the floor, and Phil down on one knee. She was completely surprised! After an overwhelming, “Yes!” they got ready to go out and celebrate. Phil surprised Dakota once again, with a huge gathering of family and friends waiting to celebrate with them at their favorite brewery, Main Line! They are so excited, and can’t wait for their wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek in November!
For their engagement session, we met up at Urban Farmhouse in downtown Richmond to explore the amazing city vibes in the area. Dakota and Phil were immediately full of smiles, jokes, and silly faces to throw at each other! After stopping just a *tiny* bit of traffic for an epic street photo, we traveled down to Brown’s Island and Potterfield Memorial Bridge for some city skylines. We had a blast adventuring, catching up, and chatting about their newest Netflix binge, “Worst Roommate Ever.” I had SO much fun getting to know these two better, and I’m just in love with their session!
