A Summer VMFA Garden Wedding in Richmond | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Ashley and Scott’s summer VMFA garden wedding was absolutely beautiful! Having attended many of the VMFA’s happy hour events, the gardens were a special place for these two. It was the perfect backdrop for their wedding day, that was over six years in the making!
Excitement and a special bond radiated the room as Ashley and her bridesmaids got ready together. After a fun bridesmaid reveal, it was time to head to the VMFA for her first look with Scott! When they finally saw each other, they both had the widest smiles! They wiped away a few tears from their eyes, before taking each other in. Ashley showed Scott one of her favorite parts of her dress, the back, before they embraced in a loving hug. Then, they met with their wedding party for portraits, and everyone was just so excited for them!
Their ceremony began with Scott walking his mother, Jan, down the aisle, followed by their adorable flower girls and ring bearers! Ashley was escorted by her mother, Cheri, before they shared vows that left guests crying and laughing with joy. Scott described how Ashley cares so much for those around her, and how she always makes him feel so loved and secure!
Ashley shared the best piece of wedding advice she’s received, which was that marriage isn’t always 50/50. Sometimes you only show up with 20%, and need your partner to cover the other 80%. She shared that Scott can always count on her to make up the difference, and how she knows he’ll do the same for her. After they exchanged rings, they were pronounced husband and wife and shared a kiss to applause from their guests!
After a few portraits adorned by their gorgeous floral arch, Ashley and Scott joined their cocktail hour in the VMFA cafe! They hugged, chatted, and took photos with their guests before making their way to the marble hall for the reception. After their grand entrance, Ashley and Scott shared their first dance to Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love. Dances with Ashley and her Uncle, Anthony, and then Scott and Jan followed! After dinner, three of their best friends, Mel, Marielle, and Drew gave heartfelt speeches. They highlighted their friendships with the couple, before the dance floor opened. Then, Ashley surprised their guests with a fringe dress that was perfect for dancing the night away!
Congratulations again Ashley and Scott, and I hope you fully enjoyed your after party at the New York Deli!
