A Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Engagement Session | Richmond Engagement Photographer
I had such a fun time with Dudley and Bruce at their VMFA Garden engagement session this past Friday! Their stunning session has definitely solidified the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as one of my favorite new locations. With all of the rain lately, it’s garden was still amazingly in bloom!
These two originally met at work, and have now been together for EIGHT whole years!! They’ve been on plenty of adventures together traveling the globe, and also caring for their adorable pup Hank. After some take out from their favorite date night spot, Akida, Bruce got down on one knee in their living room. Surrounded by their pup and cat, he finally asked Dudley to marry him! Of course, Dudley said yes! She’s been waiting for this moment for a long time, and needless to say, she’s been so excited to get started planning their wedding.
We officially booked back during lockdown, so we’ve been excitedly planning their engagement session for when things were more open. The stars aligned, and not only did we coordinate her hair and make up trial with Kelsea Dayberry, but we also managed to do all this on Dudley’s birthday! Since we’ve only spoken through video chat or emails, I was so glad to be finally meeting them in person! Although there were a few rainclouds threatening to damper the mood, Dudley was all smiles and sunshine. She is just such an incredibly positive person, with such an infectious smile! Bruce was absolutely amazing at bringing out her smile, and putting up with the rain to get as many gorgeous photos with her as possible.
After a quick outfit change, we headed over to this adorable house on Monument Avenue. I love when couples are just as excited about their photos as I am, and Dudley was immediately excited about the location! She had seen one of my earlier blog posts from there, and loved the idea of that being their second location for photos with their dog, Hank.
Dudley and Bruce got Hank about five years ago. When they adopted him he may have been two years old, but he was definitely still a puppy at heart! Dudley said she had him go to daycare all week so that he would be nice and tired after running around with all of his pupper friends. I have to say, Hank was so well behaved! He sat and stayed so well for all of their photos. They told me the best way to get Hank’s attention would be to tell him that he’s, “going on a walk to have some dinner at Morgan’s house.” He absolutely loves Bruce’s friend Morgan! I thought this was so funny, and it worked like a charm!
I had such a good time getting to know these two better during our fun session. Dudley’s excitement over their photos was so sweet, and Bruce was happy to help make any dream poses happen for her. I’m so glad that the rain held off enough for us to get some amazing photos! Congratulations again Dudley and Bruce on your engagement! I hope you enjoyed your little beach weekend get away, and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek as well!
