Richmond Elopement 15 years in the Making | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Kristin and Aidan’s Richmond elopement this past weekend was absolutely beautiful! Though they originally planned to have their ceremony in the sculpture garden at the VMFA, the weather had other plans. However, no amount of rain could possibly have dampened anyone’s spirits for the day! This elopement was quite special, and a long time coming! These two first started dating 15 years ago, when Kristin asked Aidan to their school’s Sadie Hawkins Dance. Ever since then, it’s been absolute magic!
Having spent so many years together, they like to joke that their relationship is actually two or three different ones. They’ve gone through so many life stages with each other, and have grown so much. No matter how much life has changed for them, or how much they have grown as individuals, they’ve always grown together. I was so excited when they reached out to me about their wedding photography! I met Kristin and Aidan through a singing group that my family participated in years ago. I’ve always thought that they were the sweetest couple, and the best of friends! Keeping this a secret has been so hard, I’ve been so excited for these two! The craziness of this year really put things in perspective for them, and they didn’t want to wait another day to finally become husband and wife.
Their friends Emily and Stephanie were there to help them get ready for the day, and help them celebrate! Aidan and Kristin were both so nervous, but their first look helped calm their nerves. Their first look was adorable! Aidan turned around to see Kristin, and their expressions were just perfect. They embraced each other, as best friends, about to be husband and wife! There were so many happy tears as they took the sight of each other in. After some gorgeous portraits, it was time for their ceremony!
Emily began their ceremony, which was live streamed for their family! Their ceremony was full of laughter, and so many happy tears. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room for either of their vows! Kristin and Aidan shared stories of the many stages of their relationship, and how they couldn’t wait to continue loving each other for the rest of their days. Emily led them through the sharing of the rings, and Kristin and Aidan finally shared their first kiss as husband and wife! After their touching ceremony, it was time for the zoom reception. They set up a zoom meeting to share toasts with their family, and enjoy some champagne! Between the technical difficulties, kind words, and fun stories shared, it was a fantastic time! Everyone was just so happy for them, and so excited to get to join in the celebrations.
Congratulations again Kristin and Aidan, and I hope you are enjoying the first few days of being married!!
