Fall Engagement Session with Mountain Views | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Lauryn and Andrew’s engagement session at the Rockfish Gap Overlook was absolutely stunning! Lauryn and Andrew chose this location due to their love of exploring together, and Andrew used to visit this location for hawk watching. These two met back in high school when they were both in band class, and were friends for a few years before they started dating. They’ve now been together for 10 years, and are finally getting to plan their wedding together!
Lauryn went on a family trip to England when she was a teenager, and she absolutely fell in love with the history and architecture! She had been begging Andrew to take a trip to England with her, and they finally had the opportunity to go last Christmas. On the last day of their trip, they went to visit Westminster Abbey. This was Lauryn’s favorite place when her family visited as a teenager, and she was still in love with how beautiful the place was! After spending the day overwhelmed by the beauty, Lauryn got to be overwhelmed by Andrew dropping to one knee right before they left and popping the question. Of course she said yes, and couldn’t stop crying happy tears!
Andrew is currently going to school in Utah, and Lauryn lives in Boston where she works with the City of Boston Archaeology Program. They spend a lot of the year apart, so they like to find shows that they can watch at the same time. They’re very excited about the new season of The Crown, and also about the Great British Baking Show! They’ve been so excited for their engagement session, and I’m glad that we found a time we could all get together. They happened to be visiting Virginia for a family member’s wedding, so we headed out to the Rockfish Gap Overlook. The views were absolutely stunning, and I will definitely be going back for my own sight seeing some time soon! Andrew and Lauryn were all giggles and smiles as we got started, and I was loving it! Though they’ve been together for 10 years, they’ve never had professional photos taken together. They were so excited to finally have some photos that weren’t taken on a phone!
Along with the stunning mountain views, there was another area I got really excited about. As a photographer, I will sometimes get distracted by the most random things that I swear will look beautiful! There was a hill that had some pretty plants with the sun shining through them, and I wanted to see if we could get over to it. We walked around to try and find a way up the hill, and there really wasn’t going to be an easy way up there! Lauryn and Andrew looked at the hillside we’d need to climb, and asked ME if I was OK with climbing up it to get to the pretty light. I was more than happy to do so, and I was beyond thrilled that they were too! That little spot was beyond worth it, and their photos were absolutely stunning! I’m so glad that they were adventurous enough to climb their way up there, and that they trusted me with this crazy spot!
I had so much fun with these two, and I loved watching the way they interacted with each other! They are clearly such good friends, and I’m so glad that they are finally getting married. Congratulations again you two, and I can’t wait for your wedding in October!
