Fall Engagement Session at the Manchester Climbing Wall Area | Allison and Robert
Meet Robert and Allison! These two are high school sweethearts, and have now been together for over SEVEN years!! They have the most adorable best friend energy, and love getting to spend time together. Whether its traveling the globe, exploring nearby parks, or just snuggling up on the couch to read, they love exploring life’s adventures together! This year they’ve been finding new shows to watch together (they just started Brooklyn Nine-Nine!), enjoying each other’s company while reading in the wonderful natural light in their downtown apartment, and exploring the many different parks along the James River system. They had their first date at Robious Landing Park, and that’s also where Robert eventually took Allison to propose to her by singing their song, “Long Live,” by Taylor Swift. Of course, Allison was over the moon and said, “yes!”
I had only gotten to chat with Allison over Facetime, so I was really excited to finally get to meet her and Robert at their engagement session! We were originally planning on meeting up at the Pipeline, since they wanted to incorporate their love of the river in their photos. However, Richmond weather had other plans, and decided to flood most of the downtown area! With the pipeline bridge mostly underwater, we needed to find another location. Robert hopped on his bike for his daily morning ride, and found that the Manchester Climbing Wall Area wasn’t flooded. He saved the day by suggesting we go there! I’ve never gotten to explore that area before, but it is definitely going to be one of my new favorite spots!
We had a blast exploring the different areas, and seeing the GORGEOUS views of the river and city sky line that the area had to offer. Robert and Allison were all giggles as we started their session, and I just couldn’t get over how cute they were together! Robert was more than happy to help Allison traverse the rocks for any photos she wanted, and I joked with them about how he seemed to be used to posing for the camera. Allison is my first bride-to-be who is also a photographer! It was so much fun to be able to chat a bit about photography with her during our session, and also hear more about her own photography business. She admitted that she has definitely brought out the tripod on numerous occasions to get photos of the two of them, and that Robert is definitely used to her posing him for some photos. He knows its her passion, and is happy to do whatever to make sure she has photos of the two of them that she loves!
We also found out at the end of the session that we are both in love with Katelyn James Photography, and had a total fan-girl moment talking about all the courses she offers and how great her training is. Katelyn James is a very successful wedding photographer in the Richmond area, who is also very expensive! I joked that I already have a savings account going in the hopes that she could some day shoot my own wedding, and Allison gave the me most precious compliment that my photographer heart had ever heard! She said that she saw my work and felt that she had finally found a Katelyn James level photographer that fit into their budget, and that they just had to book me. I might still be feeling butterflies over that one!
It was so nice finally get meet these two, and their session was just so much fun! Congratulations again Allison and Robert, and I can’t wait for your wedding in October!
