Congratulations to Lauren and Nick! These two tied the knot at the Edgar Allen Poe Museum last weekend! Saturday was absolutely gorgeous, with any hint of rain shying away from downtown Richmond. The sun was out, and the gardens of the Poe Museum looked magical. I was so glad to see Lauren again, and was so excited for her while she was getting ready! Lauren’s mom helped her into her dress, and helped her with her shoes and jewelry. When she passed Lauren her, “something blue,” the reality of the day really hit, bringing tears to her eyes. Lauren’s, “something blue,” was a sapphire ring that her mom gave to her. Lauren’s dad had given this ring to her mom when she was pregnant with Lauren, and her wedding ring no longer fit. Years later, Lauren is now wearing this ring on her wedding day. They shared some tears and hugs, and it was such a sweet moment. It was such a perfect fit for the day, with the ring coming full circle from Lauren as a baby, to Lauren growing up and getting married.
Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony! Lauren’s uncle played the saxophone, while Lauren walked down the aisle. Nick was grinning ear to ear from the moment he saw her enter the garden, and Lauren and her mother shared another hug at the end of the aisle. During their ceremony, there were poems shared, along with readings from Nick’s brother Johnathan, and Lauren’s friend Megan. They left Lauren, Nick, and their guests laughing, with everyone celebrating the love they shared. Then, they said, “I do,” and shared their first kiss as husband and wife! They cheerfully walked down the aisle and out of the garden, and shared hugs and sweet words with their guests as they headed over to the reception. After family formals, we had a little extra time for bride and groom portraits! They are such a cute couple, and I loved hearing the sweet things they would say to each other while we were taking photos. Lauren also had a beautiful veil, and I was so excited to get some fun, stunning veil portraits for her!
After portraits, it was time for the reception. We headed off the Can Can Brassiere on Cary Street, to continue the party! Their reception table was so well put together, and they had an adorable guest book! They had a polaroid for guests to take photos with, and then they could glue them into the guest book with sweet notes to Nick and Lauren. They also had past photos of themselves, along with a decorated Michigan state frame! Their gorgeous cake was also made by their friend Allison, and they had a custom cake top ordered as well. Their cake topper is so cute! Included in their cake topper is their beloved dog Duke, who sadly passed away just before the wedding. Though bittersweet, he was with them in spirit all day at their wedding. Soon after arriving, Lauren and Nick shared their first dance, which of course, had everyone tearing up. Watching the love and support of their friends and family as they watched them dance with smiles on their face is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day! These two are so loved, by each other, and their family and friends. I’m so happy for them, and I wish them luck on their new journey together!
Thanks again to all of the AMAZING vendors who helped make their day so special!
