A Mill at Fine Creek Wedding with Vibrant Fall Hues | Powhatan Wedding Photographer
Phil and Dakota’s evening ceremony underneath the pergola at The Mill at Fine Creek was absolutely beautiful! Their big day embodied the relaxed, joyful, and fun aspects of them as a couple. From their creative “party animal” seating chart made from various golden animal figurines, to the non-stop crowd at the photobooth, there was no shortage of fun and happiness on their wedding day! While Phil and his groomsmen got ready, Dakota set up a Nintendo 64 as a surprise for them. They enjoyed a few rounds of Mario Kart, before getting ready for the day! Meanwhile, Dakota surprised her bridesmaids with the reveal of her wedding look, and custom necklaces for them to wear for the day.
After a touching first look with her father, Stuart, it was time for Dakota and Phil’s first look. As Phil turned around, his smile grew ear to ear! They embraced in a hug, and Dakota mentioned how handsome Phil looked in his green suit. Everything was finally coming together and feeling so real! After a few portraits by the creek, it was time for their wedding party to join in. Dakota and Phil’s group was so much fun, and kept us all laughing despite the cold! Their green suits and rusty dresses looked stunning against the creek, and I’m just in love with all of the colors! Soon, the sun set behind the treeline, and it was time for everyone to line up for Dakota and Phil’s night time ceremony.
As Stuart walked Dakota down the aisle, she and Phil could not stop beaming at each other! Guests cozied under the provided blankets, as their officiant offered guidance for their marriage. He reminded them to learn how to forgive, encourage each other, and to set aside time to stay connected. Dakota and Phil took each other’s hands and vowed, “though the world may change and we may change with it, I will always love you, treasure you, and share all that I am with you. I am proud from this day forward to be your spouse.” After an exchanging of rings, Dakota and Phil were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Monteau! They shared a kiss, and exited their ceremony to the song, “Dancing in the Moonlight” and an abundance of cheers.
For cocktail hour, guests enjoyed an amazing spread of shrimp, gumbo, candied bacon, and so many more tasty appetizers! Dakota and Phil also included their dog, Nacho, with a signature drink in his honor. Their reception space was a showstopper, with beautiful candles and accents of terracotta linens and details! After finding their seats, guests gathered around the edge of the dance floor and cheered as the wedding party entered. As guests cheered, Dakota and Phil shared their first dance to Dan + Shay’s, “You,” followed by touching parent dances. The Best Man, Dan, and the Maid of Honor, Morgan, shared speeches after dinner that left guests laughing and crying at the same time! The night continued with an amazingly full dance floor, fun photo booth, and assorted desserts including cannolis, snickerdoodle cookies, and doughnuts. After sharing a private dance, Dakota and Phil ended their night with a fun bubble exit!
Congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Monteau, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the first few days of being newlyweds!
