A DIY Maymont Wedding with Colorful Details | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Allison and Robert’s colorful Maymont wedding was such a fantastic celebration! Everything they had been planning with their family and friends finally came together for a simply wonderful event. I have been SO excited for Allison and Robert’s wedding! Not just because they are the sweetest couple, but because Allison is a photographer as well 🙂 From her details, the ceremony location choice, and planning of the timeline, I could see her photographer’s mind at work in everything that she had planned for the day. I mean, just look at all of those gorgeous details!
The day was sunny and perfect without a cloud in the sky, and we couldn’t have asked for more beautiful light on the Maymont grounds. After and adorable daddy-daughter first look, it was for Allison’s dad, John, to walk her down the aisle. Everyone grinned ear to ear as they watched Allison take her place with Robert under the Blue Atlas Cedar tree. Then, Allison’s brother, Reed, lead them through their ceremony.
They took their guests through giggles and tears as they shared their vows, and reminisced over the past 9 years they’ve spent together. These high school sweethearts really are the sweetest! After a heartwarming ceremony, Allison and Robert were announced Mr. and Mrs. Bohnke! They ended their ceremony with a bubble exit that truly brought some magic to their day 🙂 Bubble exits are my new absolute favorite. They are just so dreamy!
After some stunning sunset portraits (yes, we brought the bubbles back out!) it was time for the reception. Sharing their first dance to their song, Long Live by Taylor Swift, there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. The song is so fitting for these two, especially when Robert proposed to Allison singing it! The rest of the reception was a mix of joyful laughter and heartfelt tears in response to all the love from family and friends. Guests won at wedding bingo, and rocked out to the early 2000’s hits that their AMAZING DJ, Megan, had playing!
Ending the night with a grand exit, they had a surprise for Allison’s parents, John and Rosie. Recreating their wedding exit, Allison and Robert donned sunglasses and trench coats to, “sneak away,” from the wedding! John and Rosie were completely surprised, and their reaction was priceless! It was such a fun ending to a marvelous day. Congratulations again Mr. and Mrs. Bohnke, and I hope you see all those kingdom lights shining for you 🙂
Did I mention that they opened the dance floor with The Black Parade? You better believe my pop-punk heart was enjoying every second of this reception, and amazing group of people!
