A Fall Engagement Session with Big Field Vibes | Richmond Wedding Photographer
Jen and Steven’s Yorktown Battlefield engagement session this past weekend was so much fun! Jen and Steven were acquaintances with similar friend groups in college, until one fateful night at a party. A bunch of guys were being way too forward with Jen, and she asked Steven to be her fake boyfriend for the night. Next thing they knew, they were officially dating! In their free time, they love getting to cook and try new recipes together. They also love spending plenty of time with their dog Oliver, and their new pup Auggie! They’ve been engaged since two summers ago when Steven proposed to her at a family reunion. Jen’s parents travel all over, and Steven was able to coordinate with them so they could be there to celebrate with them. It was such a sweet moment that they were so thankful to be able to share with their family!
Jen has been super excited for their engagement session, and was desperately hoping to find a specific location. She really wanted to find big open fields and tall brown grass, a look that’s pretty hard to find out in Richmond! After plenty of searching, we settled on the beautiful fields of Yorktown Battlefield, and I’m SO glad we did! The fields were just what Jen was looking for, and we could’t have asked for better weather for the day! Steven’s parents, Steve and Theresa, came out to help with Auggie and Oliver while they were waiting for their turn in front of the camera. Once their turn was up for photos, they did so well with looking at the camera!
We had blast walking through the gorgeous fields, and getting some gorgeous photos. Jen and Steven were even brave enough to cross the street and take a few photos in the middle of the road with this beautiful picturesque tree. I’m always so thankful when couples trust my my crazy photographer shenanigans! These two were just having such a good time with each other, and Steven was up for any photos that Jen wanted. I couldn’t get over their wonderfully coordinated outfits, and Jen’s stylish hat! One super fun thing we did was a move called “the airplane” that Jen had seen on Tik Tok. It was definitely super fun, and we got some adorable photos with wonderful movement! We were having so much fun, that we actually finished up a little past sunset.
As a side note, if you’re ever traveling up to Yorktown Battlefield for gorgeous fields like these, know that you do need to pay a fee! We stayed just a few minutes too late, and a lovely park ranger was waiting in the parking lot let us know that they are very strict about closing at sunset. With the visitor center being closed due to Covid, they aren’t worried about the fees, but normally there is small entrance fee to pay. Even with that little run in, and we had an absolutely wonderful time, and it was so nice to finally get to meet in person!
Congratulations again Jen and Steven, and I can’t wait for your wedding in May!
